Annual Benefit Concert Seeks Volunteers for 5th Anniversary

ON JUNE 11TH AT ROTARY PARK IN PUTNAM

April 23, 2011—Organizers of Particle Accelerator V, the fifth annual benefit concert taking place June 11, 2011 at Rotary Park in Putnam, CT, are looking for volunteers to help before, during and after the event.  The concert is a unique, exciting opportunity for high school students looking to fulfill community service hours or to simply help out for an important cause.

Particle Accelerator is an annual benefit concert with two main goals:

1. Raise money in order to support United Services, Inc. of Dayville, CT in their mission of providing “an effective response to the youth, family and adult social and behavioral health needs in its community.” Some programs we have supported are the 24 Hour Emergency Hotline and the Mental Health First Aid Training course.

2. Provide information and support for depression and suicide prevention, while promoting music and civic engagement as a healthy alternative to drug and alcohol abuse among young adults.

Last year, dozens of students from Hyde School of Woodstock, CT gained community service hours at Particle Accelerator IV while helping run Donation Stations, sell water and raffle tickets, and even serve as stage hands.    Several members of Putnam P.R.I.D.E.’s Youth Advisory Board also worked tirelessly throughout the day, and presented Particle Accelerator organizers Grace Young and Eric Gould with funds they raised from a car wash in the event’s honor.   Students interested in volunteering their time can fill out an online Registration Form at www.particleaccelerator.org.
